Tube Council members and non-member guests assembled for the organization’s 2004 Spring Conference, held April 28-30 at the Ritz-Carlton San Juan Hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The event addressed the Tube Council’s new direction and management, allowing attendees to form business relationships with those committed to the tube as viable packaging of choice for pharmaceutical, personal care, dentifrice and food products.
Besides providing valuable networking time, the Spring Conference included hard-hitting presentations probing new and emerging technologies and innovations that are penetrating the tube packaging industry, now and in the future.
Roger Caracappa, senior vice president, global packaging, Estée Lauder, presented the conference keynote address. Caracappa’s presentation focused on the Estée Lauder Corporation while emphasizing how the company uses packaging – including tubes – as part of their successful business plan.

- “Innovations in Extruded Plastic, Laminate and Aluminum Tube Production Equipment” – Joachim Sander, deputy general manager/director of marketing, AISA Automation Industrielle SA
- “ISIMAT in the Americas” – Pieter Van der Griendt, president, Polytype American Corp.
- “Tube Labeling – What Works, What Doesn’t, What’s Hot, What’s Not” – Diane Ewanko, marketing manager, Avery Dennison – Fasson
- “Leak Inspection Technology for Plastic and Laminate Tube Production Lines” – Paolo Venturelli
“The mission of the Tube Council is to promote the tube as a preferred package in North America,” said Patrick Farrey, Tube Council executive director. “This event solidified the Council’s mission while providing an open forum to exchange ideas and set goals for the Council to better serve its members and the industry.”
Also taking place during the conference were new Council of Officers elections and the 2003 Tube of the Year awards presentation.
