Tube Council looks to the future

A conference call of North American tube manufacturers was held Monday, June 19th. Following is a summary of the discussion:
1. Board of Directors A new Board of Directors was elected by a unanimous vote.
Elected were: ~ Paul Goodman - Plastube ~ Michael Hoard - Alcan ~ Betty Pilon - Montebello ~ Jerry Ruud - Berry Plastics ~ Jacques Sassouni - Artube
There are still vacant Board positions, which may be filled by appointment at a later date. If you are interested in serving, please send a note to pfarrey@tube.org.
The Board will elect Council Officers at an upcoming meeting.
2. Bylaws Each North American tube manufacturer has received a copy of the Tube Council's Bylaws via email. Pat Farrey will be composing a draft of revisions for review. Please send any proposed changes or comments to pfarrey@tube.org.
3. Tube Competition The schedule for the 2006 Tube Competition has been announced, as follows:
June 26th - Competition Guidelines and Entry Forms Available August 15th - Entry Deadline August 28th - Judging September 12th - Winners Announced at a Press Conference at HBA Show September 12-14 - Winners on Display at HBA

4. Web Site The Tube Council's web site has been updated to reflect only North American Tube Manufacturers which are currently participating in the Council. Each manufacturer is asked to review their online profile, and email any changes to Chris Barry at cbarry@tube.org.
If you wish to have your company's information added to the web site, contact Kelly Staley at kstaley@tube.org.
5. Advertising Campaign The Tube Council will be starting a print advertising campaign, intended to promote the North American tube industry and Tube Council members. The final ad will contain the Tube Council's web site address, as well as the logo for each Tube Council manufacturer member.
The content of the initial ad will be discussed during the next conference call.
6. Manufacturer Participation It is the goal of the Council to achieve 100% participation from North American tube manufacturers. Members of the Tube Council Board and Staff will be contacting each company to confirm participation.
It was agreed, however, that manufacturers not currently actively participating will be excluded from the benefits of the above noted programs, and may be required to pay a higher dues rate if joining at a later date.
7. Committee Activity The Board is seeking volunteers to work with the various programs. Committees focusing on Bylaws, Marketing and Government Relations are being formed. If you wish to serve on one of these, contact Pat Farrey at pfarrey@tube.org.
8. Next Meeting The next meeting of the Tube Council manufacturer members only will be held on: Friday, July 7th, 2006 12:00 noon Eastern
