The Tube Council’s winter meeting and awards dinner was held at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel on February 6th. Attendees included twenty-two member companies with nine tube manufacturing members and thirteen associate members from the supplier and support services sectors. Over forty-five individuals participated.
In addition to a general membership meeting and Council update, the day’s highlights included an open discussion on integrating social media and a new Tube Council website design into the Council’s initiatives. This would offer members, suppliers and product marketers a vehicle to learn about squeeze tube manufacturing, product innovations and trends in the marketplace. An updated website will be introduced later this year.
Associate Members of the Council were invited to present updates on their companies activities. Aisa, Avery Dennison, Sibo Group and Silgan Dispensing Systems made enlightening presentations on their product offerings. In addition to the member presentations, members were invited to attend and enjoy a presentation by the meeting’s guest speaker, Molly Garris, Senior Manager, Digital Strategy, U.S. Beauty for Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. Ms. Garris’ presentation “Show Me Your Shelfie” highlighted trends in the skin care category for the millennial versus the general market. She engaged the entire membership with her insightfulness.
The day’s activities culminated with a cocktail reception and awards dinner. Tubes were nominated in different market categories, including Personal Care, Oral Care, Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Household and Food markets. Each entry was evaluated for the use of interesting graphics, innovative components or dispensing features. Innovations in sustainability, product components and tube processes were also considered. The top award, Tube of the Year, was awarded to Albea Americas, Inc. for its Nubian Heritage African Black Soap Exfoliant Spot Treatment tube. The full list of winning entries can be found on the Tube Council website.
We encourage the participation of companies involved with the tube industry in the council’s bi-annual meetings. The next meeting is scheduled in conjunction with the Pack Expo International Trade Show in Chicago, Illinois, October 14-17, 2018.
